Central Coast

El Capitan Canyon - Located on the coast a few miles north of Santa Barbara. This site has it all: a beautiful location, excellent accommodations, a variety of environments including beaches, canyons, tidepools, chaparral covered hillsides and numerous educational opportunities.

Majestic sycamores and oaks line the canyon bottom.

There are large fields that make perfect outdoor classrooms.

A perennial stream is prefect for the study of freshwater ecology.

The tidepools and beaches of El Capitan State Park are a fifteen-minute walk away. Kayaking is an option that can be included in most programs. Students and chaperones stay in modern cabins with baths. Wholesome meals are served under the oaks.

A new high-challenge course makes El Capitan Canyon a very excellent site!

Don't forget to consider these other excellent Central Coast sites: Morro Bay near San Luis Obispo, Montana de Oro and San Simeon, site of Hearst Castle. See the site description for Morro Bay, Montana de Oro and San Simeon.

We explore outdoor learning program and other sites on the Central Coast, including Lake Cachuma, Ocean Pines, and Refugio State Park.
