Why use Naturalists at Large for outdoor education?

Your outdoor programs deserve the same quality content and attention to detail that you give to all of your academic programs.

We provide you with integrated outdoor programs that are experiential. We work with you to develop a series of experiences that fit specific goals for your school and your students.

Outdoor Programs Tailored to Your Goals

Naturalists at Large regularly uses over thirty outdoor and lodge-based education sites throughout the western United States. We are not tied to one or two sites.

Our programs offer:

• Leadership and a shared group experience that build friendship, fellowship and respect.

• Opportunities to formalize classroom concepts.

• Valuable outdoor skills: rock-climbing, backpacking, snorkeling, canoeing and hiking.

• Natural and Cultural history.

• Opportunities for students and teachers to see each other in different roles and understand each other better.

A Sense of Place

Naturalists at Large outdoor education programs are designed to compare and contrast the wilderness environment and processes to your students' urban environment, thereby instilling a true appreciation of the outdoor world.

Students return to school with a more complete understanding of both their community and the area they have visited.
